about

From the opera Lakmé by Léo Delibes [1881], Arr. Paul Binkley. This arrangement of the aria by French composer Léo Delibes (1836-1891) was made by Paul Binkley, part of the Modern Mandolin Quartet until his death in 2002. Diggs DeRusha joins in on guitar, a reminder of the wider BMG movement and the presence of the instrument in many mandolin groups ca. 1900.
